Job Description
Overall Purpose of the Job :

*To manage the technical section of the Technical Functional Group ensuring technical excellence at all levels.
*Fulfil the role of Bid Manager or Technical Manager on designated projects
*Undertake activities in addition to the job description as designated by Line Management
*Meet objectives as designated

*Strong theoretical & practical knowledge; keeps up to date with new technologies and their application to RTS work
*Innovates robust solutions to unusual challenges
*Selects cost effective and timely solutions when assessing all technologies
*Identifies the key criteria and innovate alternative solutions

Practical Application

*Can lead a team of multi-discipline personnel, inputting wide experience
*Has experience to assess implications & mitigate risks when analysing complex problems
*Challenges subordinates to improve effectiveness and achieve critical business targets
*Identifies trends in performance over time, reviewing procedures and performance to enhance standards

Leadership & Management

*Identifies opportunities to grow the scope of involvement. Identifies & mitigates risks in the execution of contracts
*Creates a climate which encourages continuous improvement in financial performance
*Introduces improvements to existing levels of service
*Co-ordinates full project cycle, dovetailing activities to increase efficiency and meet quality standards
*Provides opportunities for others to assume responsibility, acting as mentor to foster staff development

Communications & Interpersonal Skills

*Builds good relationships with internal & external customers and avoids conflict situations if possible
*Handles difficult situations confidently and removes restrictions to communications
*Identifies others objections & underlying needs then stresses the benefits which meet these
*Encourages subordinates to support development initiatives, personally acting as mentor

*Works to improve performance by intelligent application of systems & procedures
*Strives to continually improve safety awareness & overall Company Environment, Health & Safety performance
*Is the 'expert' in selected codes or standards and able to advise others
*Acts as mentor facilitating professional development of others

Qualifications

*BSc in Engineering or 10 years relevant technical experience and 5 years managerial experience (minimum qualification HNC)
